"During my 5 weeks of work experience, I had the opportunity to work at a large commercial pig farm in Devon and an animal rescue centre, which focused on rescuing and rehoming Dogs and Cats. It was an eye-opening experience that solidified my passion for caring for animals. I saw so much and did so much- there is nothing quite like spending time within the work place to get a true sense of what it would really be like to do the job. It is an understatement to say it is stressful- during my time at the rescue centre I witnessed a number of emergency operations- even including an eye removal operation.

Alongside my practical experience, I was also dedicated to my studies, striving to achieve my predicted grades of AAA in Chemistry, Biology, and Maths. It was challenging, but I was determined to succeed. I struggled at first only getting a C in Chemistry but was able to claw it back in the second round of mocks and secure that A predicted grade. This then allowed me to apply to y four vet schools of choice Surry, Nottingham, Liverpool and Bristol.

After months of hard work and preparation, I recently received an invitation to interview at the University of Bristol for their vet school program. This is a huge milestone for me, and I am beyond excited for the opportunity to pursue my dream career in veterinary medicine. Good luck to anyone with the same dream as me. " - Gareth, Leicester
